Beet Fire Brew Glazed Tempeh Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Glazed Tempeh:
- 1 block of tempeh (8 oz)
- 1/2 cup Beet Fire Brew
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon gf flour (optional, for thickening)
- Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Cooked rice or quinoa for serving
Instructions:
Preparing the Glazed Tempeh:
- Prepare Tempeh: Cut the tempeh into bite-sized cubes or slices.
- Steam Tempeh: Optional but recommended to reduce bitterness. Steam the tempeh pieces for about 10 minutes.
- Marinate: In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup of Beet Fire Brew, soy sauce or tamari, olive oil, and maple syrup or honey. Add the tempeh pieces and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
- Cook Tempeh: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Remove tempeh from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and cook the tempeh pieces until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Thicken Glaze: Mix the reserved marinade with 1 teaspoon of flour if a thicker glaze is desired. Pour the marinade into the skillet with the tempeh. Cook, stirring, until the glaze thickens and coats the tempeh evenly.
- Serve: Serve the glazed tempeh over cooked rice or quinoa. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and sesame seeds.
Tips:
- Steaming Tempeh: Steaming the tempeh before marinating can help remove any bitterness and allow it to absorb more of the marinade.
- Substitutions: Feel free to substitute the tempeh with tofu or another protein of your choice.
- Extra Glaze: If you prefer extra glaze, double the marinade ingredients and thicken as needed.
Enjoy your Beet Fire Brew Glazed Tempeh! This dish is a perfect balance of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors, making it a delicious and nutritious meal.
