Welcome to the MYM Blog

We have been cautious about initiating a blog because we didn't want to start something that we couldn't commit to keeping up. At our core, we are a small, passionate crew of women working together in Portland, Oregon to make deeply nourishing apple cider vinegar products. No fancy bells and whistles, no curated marketing campaigns, no hulking booths at trade shows. Just us.

My interest in healthy living started to emerge about 20 years ago when I was on the precipice of having children. Before that, I had very little knowledge about the impact my diet had on my health - both good and bad - and made choices that were questionable at best.

Fast forward to 2005 when my family and I moved to Oregon. I was immediately astounded by the access to the immense amount of nature that surrounded us. Mountains, lakes, rivers, meadows... it was all there. As you can imagine, all this natural beauty enabled access to some of the freshest produce, fattest wild fish, and the best pasture-raised game I had ever eaten. The food tasted better than anything I had ever experienced! From there, my interest in healthier living and the impact our diets have on our general well being started to percolate.

It was around 2014 that my desire and curiosity to dive deeper into the plant/food world became insatiable. So much so that I decided to advance my knowledge by getting a certificate in Holistic Nutrition at the Wellspring School for the Healing Arts. That's also when I began reading books like Michael Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma having discussions about Intuitive Eating, and learning the fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I had no idea how I would use this experience; it was the first time I had ever done something just out of pure interest without having "a plan" or "path" lined out afterward. This made the experience so much richer and enabled me to absorb everything with a much wider aperture rather than focusing on pieces that seemed most important.

One day a classmate introduced me to her homemade fire cider, a health tonic developed by the godmother of herbalism Rosemary Gladstar. I was instantly intrigued. The taste was shocking. It was super spicy, it was tart, and, it was... cleansing! To be honest, I didn't know if I loved it or hated it, but I was hooked. When I learned how healthy it was, I knew that I wanted to buy some more, but was troubled when I couldn't readily find it. I didn't understand how something this healthy wasn't more accessible.

A light suddenly went off in my head.

Since that fateful day, my crew and I have been immersed in the discovery of plant life, and the effect it has on our health and wellness. We have been humbled by the sheer magnitude of the natural world, and the strength it carries to restore the mind and body. We have committed ourselves to learn as much as we can and apply that knowledge to making real, high-quality products with nothing but whole food ingredients.  We have found our passion and are grateful to be part of the conversations around natural approaches to support our health, and impact it as well. My crew and I thank you for allowing us to serve you in the most meaningful of ways and to support your unique journey around your own health and wellness.
CHEERS TO YOU!
